Cross sections of different fibers.

Brief description

In this new paper, a novel analytical micro-mechanics model to progressively predict the mechanical behavior of composites reinforced by fibers is presented. The model considers both the fracture statistical behavior of the components and their mechanical properties. Furthermore, for the fibers, we also consider different cross-sectional areas. Finally, the analytical model was validated experimentally.

The results reveal that using tough matrices with elongation in the order of PA6 fibers significantly enhances both the strength and toughness of the SPC.
